Black Space Riders – Amoretum Vol. 1

With almost ten years and five albums under their belts, Black Space Riders releases “Amoretum Vol. 1” at the end of January, 2018. I wasn’t sure what to expect upon first listen. The opening track ‘Lovely Lovelie’ had my head going in one direction. It’s very southern rock, guitar heavy, growly vocals perfect for a very hirsute, grungy hillbilly. I was all set for some rock and roll happening. But the beauty of Black Space Riders is their ability to surprise you. ‘Another Sort of Homecoming’ and ‘Soul Shelter (Inside of Me)’ had be reliving my 80s New Wave...

Slough Feg – Digital Resistance

Slough Feg is an interesting band to be sure. Their new album “Digital Resistance” drops on Metal Blade Records on February 18th. I’m unsure what to make of the new disk. Slough Feg’s “Digital Resistance” is a bit like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. Listening to the album is an adventure. The tracks on “Digital Resistance” have character. Hopefully you picked up 2013 re-release of “Eternal Domination” which was a solid metal tome. “Divide and Conquer” follows in the same vein: heart pumping, psychotic thrash metal! Holy Batman! The album starts strong! You get these guitar riffs reminiscent of Hollywood heydays of early metal....

El Drugstore – Plague Ship

Something as awesome as El Drugstore just had to come from New Jersey. Make no mistake, El Drugstore’s first full length offering, “Plague Ship” is awesome. El Drugstore is made up of Kevin Conway on guitar, Seth Rheam on drums, and Rolando Alvarado on bass. Together, this trio creates a jaw dropping array of aural perception. “Plague Ship” was released on Nefarious Industries on New Year’s Eve 2013. Fitting, as a night of debauchery and partying is the prime time for listening to an album of this disposition. “Plague Ship” opens with a wicked groovy ‘Tell Them I Said...
