How dare they! Just how dare they! Black Space Riders has released another bitchin’ disk just six months after the first. I bow deeply and present to you the most bombastic bitchin’ boss level album “Amoretum Vol. 2.” That’s right, they did another one, and this one is even more insane than the first. It’s sixty-six minutes of pure ear bleeding, brain melting, bliss! I can’t even.
So, apparently, “Amoretum Vol. 1” and “2” were written at the same time. “Vol. 2” is a continuation, if you will, of “Vol. 1.” However, you don’t need to listen to “Amoretum Vol. 1” to totally dig “Vol. 2.” But you’d be a dang fool if you don’t already have “Amoretum Vol. 1” and an even bigger fool if you don’t imbibe in “Vol. 2.” Yes, I say that ever so strongly as I am gobsmacked by both Amoretums.
What is there to love in “Vol. 2?” Let me tell you! It’s a headbanging, ska inducing, Bez dancing, gun shooting, drive fasting, psychedelic, punk fest! ‘LoveLoveLoveLoveLoveLoveLoveLoveLove!’
There is this suaveness about some of the songs that is diametrically opposed by resplendent heaviness in tome. “Amoretum Vol. 2” bobs and weaves from new romanticism to punk to heavy metal to new wave to southern rock and back again and doesn’t miss a beat. Black Space Riders is without a doubt the best band of 2018 and “Amoretum Vol. 1” and “2” are the best albums of the year! Yeah, I said it!
