Satan's Buttcheeks - Carnival of ShameOn Monday morning I was in the airport getting ready to head out to beautiful Manville, NJ checking my twitter and laying out some text messages, and of course checking the almighty Facebook. It was either Facebook or twitter, who knows, that someone mentioned this band called Satan’s Buttcheeks. I mean I got a chuckle, then I got intrigued, then I got impressed and have been listening to the EP “Carnival of Shame” since then. I am in fact addicted to Satan’s Buttcheeks, I may or may not need medical intervention from that statement, you be the judge. Well you, does not include, my friend Sander, he thinks I have come off the rails and gone around the bend long ago (see what I did there mate).

So cue Satan’s Buttcheeks, starts off with a catchy little riff, nice drumming, drops in on a damn catchy number. I know I am going to eat some humble pie for scoffing at their name. Then came ‘I can, I will, unleash my testicles’, and I am on the floor laughing at the lyrics yet mesmerized by the catchy tune and the creative way these crazy bastards made a great tune called ‘Balls Out’. This was catchy, by now I am on play three of this song alone and have picked up quite a few lyrics and singing right along in the airport. Oh can I mention there was a nice blistering guitar solo extremely well executed, these guys right fun songs and hell they a tight band.

‘Put It In Your Mouth’ is next in the shame parade. Well executed music, catchy as hell metal tune. Somewhere there is something about a gaping hole but I best leave anything else to the listener on this one. Oh yeah, yet another one of those blistering guitar solos, great riffs, and spot on beat. I am just loving this and having the time of my life listening.

Then we come to the best track on this short EP, ‘Satan is my Osteopath’, I mean look at title. ‘Mend, Back, Bend, Crack’ is the opening chant following this are some great little riffs, bass and drums right in on time and where they should be. I mean the creative genius of getting the words, ‘Satan is my Osteopath’ as the chorus to a song, is something to be commended. Did I also mention that this is a well written tune, these lads from Bath can play and bring it hard and with a lot of tongue and cheek humorous, and tongue-in-cheek load of fun played out on a canvas of great musicanship. I am left with two thoughts as I close, one, I want to party with these guys, and when will the karaoke version be available. Well done Satan’s Buttcheeks, well done!
