For All The Wrong Reasons - We’re Not Losing We’re Just Not Winning [Review]From the opening track, ‘These Past Few Years Haven’t Been So Kind’, you would not pick that the 5 track “We’re Not Losing We’re Just Not Winning” EP is the first release from, For All The Wrong Reasons, a band only formed at the beginning of 2013.

Kicking off their debut with a standout track, the 5 piece from Lincoln blend high energy bouncy melodic pop punk with a distinctive UK born snarl emerging in some of the vocals. For All The Wrong Reason’s sound is reminiscent of US bands The Wonder Years and The Story So Far, with this EP showcasing their ability to write fast tempo sing along tracks with catchy hooks. After classic upbeat pop punk from the outset, track 3 ‘It Always Rains (Except When It Snows)’ has a much less poppy feel, edging towards a harder sound with a coarser texture to the vocals.

With Alex Statham on vocals, Jacob Pointing on guitar & vocals, Chris Dunn on guitar, Aiden De Ruiter on bass and Lou Coe on drums producing such a competent first release they are clearly an emerging talent to look out for.  Closing track ‘Worn Out’ builds to an anthemic outro that no doubt will be very well received at live shows.

Having already recorded a video for the first track and eager to tour the UK, this young band is moving at quite a pace. If this EP is a measure of what For All The Wrong Reasons can achieve in eight months it will be interesting to see what the next year holds for them.
