Anyone hailed as an “incendary new force in modern hard rock” is going to peak our interest, and Roadrunner Record’s latest addition Halestorm are just that. Formed by frontwoman Lzzy Hale and her drummer brother Arejay Hale, this four piece have been kicking up a shitstorm since their debut self titled album in 2009.
The EP, “Hello It’s Mz. Hyde”, is a pre-cursor for their Roadrunner debut album “The Strange Case Of…”, scheduled for release in April 2012. Anyone who buys the ep from iTunes will then be eligible for the album at a discounted price… bargain eh?
The EP features four tracks from that album. Kicking off with the balls out anthem “Love Bites (So Do I)”, it’s fast paced and infectious, showing what a hell of a set of pipes Lzzy Hale has. “Daughters Of Darkness” is a nasty rocker of a track, snarling and grabbing at your throat straight from the traps. These two tracks sit either side of “Rock Show”, an honest middle of the road guitar driven tune, without the dark edge from the other two. Finish off with the balladesque “Here’s to Us”, and you have a four track package that leaves you gagging for more.
It’s a tease, and it’s quality one at that. If the rest of the album is just as good, then Revolver will be absolutely spot on in naming it as one of the “Most Anticipated Albums Of The Year”.
