Big 4-itis is rife across Knebworth, Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer have already spread the disease to epidemic proportions, but now as the Metallica Juggernaut thunders in, anyone not yet infected; anyone with any shit left, will lose it big time.

Metallica are the sixth form cool kids, Hetfield is the leader of the gang, these are the guys everyone wants to be associated with, and delivering a set that features pretty much bugger all from the last 20 years it’s nothing short of carnage from these titans. They are hungry, clean, enthusiastic and are tighter than ever. Huge pyrotechnics, crowd interaction and complete insanity in the pits out front, right from ‘Hit The Lights’ through to set closers ‘Battery’ and ‘Creeping Death’. It’s what Metallica do, they throw the punches and every one lands with perfection…

Tonight though, it’s more than Metallica‘s onslaught, and their pummelling show. It’s about The Big 4… and no matter how prepared you are for it, The Big 4 Jam through ‘Am I Evil’ is one of those serious “fuck me, I was there!” moments. Metallica are joined on stage not only by members of Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth, but also Sepultura and Exodus as Andreas Kisser and Gary Holt step forth from their stand in roles with Slayer and Anthrax respectively. Add Brian Tatler from Diamond Head, and The Big 4 becomes The Magnificent 7. Simply outstanding, mouths agape, Sonisphere Knebworth witness one of the most awesome pieces of metal in history.

Outstanding, just outstanding…
